LUMBERTON, N.C. (WMBF) – Lumberton police have identified a suspect in a shooting that sent one to the hospital in April.
Investigators have obtained arrest warrants for 25-year-old Jarod Lowery.
He is charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury, discharging a firearm into an occupied vehicle and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
The charges stem from a shooting on April 9 in the area of Alexander Street near Edgewood Street.
Floyd is the alleged driver of the vehicle that was cut off. Investigators say that afterward, he sped up next to the Eberlys vehicle and fired gunshots into the passenger side, striking Julie. She later died at Southeastern Regional Medical Center in Lumberton, the sheriff said.
The Manheim, Pennsylvania, couple was headed to a beach vacation along the Carolina coast, according to Robeson County Sheriff Burnis Wilkins.
Floyd was arrested April 1 at the Parkview Apartments in Lumberton. During his first appearance in court on the day of his arrest, he told the judge he would hire his own lawyer.
On Thursday, Floyd suggested a family matter had waylaid that plan.
