Chuck Litty, who founded and organized Sustainable Southbury, a volunteer grassroots organization to help Southbury become a more sustainable community, constantly encouraged town leaders the past year to join the statewide Sustainable CT program.
“Sustainable Southbury was founded to help the Southbury community sustain a vibrant local economy, foster human health through clean water, air, and healthy soils, provide economic well-being for all, conserve and use clean energy and transportation and reduce waste,” Litty said. “We founded Sustainable Southbury on the Sustainable CT framework which provides the roadmap, resources, and guidance to achieve a more sustainable community. We wanted to create a grassroots organization engaging the community on sustainability projects and initiatives.
