(KEYC) Southwest Minnesota State University announced Tuesday it has received a commitment of nearly $2 million from a former student. The $1.8 million donation for the Student Success and Advising Center and scholarships was made by Deeann J. Griebel, who earned an accounting degree from SMSU in 1980. The investment from the Pipestone, Minn., native will allow for the creation of new tutoring and mentoring programs that will aim to ensure that all students have the resources and support they need to be successful.

While McFarquhar is still being fined for not complying with COVID-19 restrictions at her business, the restaurant has hosted some Friday night events like Mack’s talk and a Valentine’s Day dinner. LYND Haven’s Garden was quiet the morning of Feb. 9, although a flier at the door advertised a Valentine’s Day dinner party later that week. The lights were off in the Lynd restaurant’s bar area and part of the seating area, and there weren’t any customers eating or stopping in to place orders.
