The following Independence Day fireworks shows will take place at dusk in the Brainerd lakes area:
Saturday, July 3
Crosslake: Sand Island on Cross Lake.
Pequot Lakes: High school practice field. Best viewing locations are both sides of Trailside Park, Pequot Lakes School and the TDS parking lot.
Sunday, July 4
Crosby: Over Serpent Lake at Crosby Memorial Park.
East Gull Lake: Madden’s on Gull Lake.
Longville: Over Girl Lake in front of Patrick’s. Come by boat or car.

ARRESTS A 56-year-old man was arrested at 5:35 a.m. May 24 on a county warrant after a report of a suspicious vehicle in a driveway on the 6600 block of Fairview Road. A 44-year-old woman, a 49-year-old man, a 28-year-old man and a 19-year-old man were arrested at 11:49 p.m. May 22 for drug offenses during a traffic stop on Highway 371 and Woida Road.
A 36-year-old man was arrested at 7:50 p.m. May 22 for driving while intoxicated with a controlled substance, fifth-degree drug possession, driving after cancellation and Todd County warrants during a traffic stop on Highway 210 and Knollwood Drive.
The coronavirus pandemic proved to be challenging for Brainerd lakes area resorts. But vaccinations, a decrease in COVID-19 cases and the end of a statewide mask mandate have resort managers hopeful for better times ahead.
