Five people are facing drug charges after the Southern Tier Regional Drug Task Force searched a home in Machias on Saturday. Members of the task force and Cattaraugus County Sheriff s Office found 1.25 ounces of crystal methamphetamine, Suboxone, scales, packaging materials, and drug paraphernalia inside 3506 Roszyk Hill Road, according to a news release from the Cattaraugus County Sheriff s Office.

editorial@observertoday.com A Fredonia man who previously pleaded guilty to a drug charge has been sentenced to seven years in state prison. Nathaniel Gates Jr. appeared before U.S. District Judge John L. Sinatra Jr. for sentencing on the charge of possessing with intent to distribute, and distributing, 28 grams or more of crack cocaine. The Fredonia man entered a guilty plea on the charge in December. In April 2015, members of the Southern Tier Regional Drug Task Force and the Drug Enforcement Administration began investigating the drug trafficking activities of the 47-year-old Gates in Chautauqua County. According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office, investigators made three controlled purchases of narcotics from Gates. Investigators also executed a search warrant at the his Brigham Road apartment in Fredonia and recovered illegal narcotics and items commonly used in drug distribution.

Meth, cash seized during search of Jamestown residence | News, Sports, Jobs

Methamphetamine and cash were seized during the search of a Jamestown residence early Wednesday. Members of the Jamestown Metro Drug Task Force, JPD K-9 unit, Sheriff’s Office K-9 unit and Southern Tier Regional Drug Task Force executed a search warrant around 6 a.m. at 11 E. 15th St. Inside, investigators found 11.6 grams of meth, 7.6 grams of psilocybin mushrooms, pills, alleged drug packaging materials, scales and cash. “The evidence was seized and the investigation remains ongoing,” Jamestown police said in a news release. The department said charges are pending. One of those located inside the residence 27-year-old Thomas A. Levine of Jamestown had an outstanding warrant from the Lakewood-Busti Police Department and was turned over to officers at the scene.
