Man prosecuted for fly-tipping on RSPB nature reserve in Otmoor

A MAN has been prosecuted after dumping waste at an Oxfordshire nature reserve. South Oxfordshire District Council has successfully prosecuted, Oxford man Jed Denton, 27 for fly-tipping at the RSPB reserve at Otmoor Lane, Beckley.  On July 8, 2019, the council received a report from the RSPB regarding a large amount of waste deposited in the car park of their reserve over the previous weekend.  Personal items addressed to Jed Denton as well as other items addressed to several companies for which Mr Denton had been a director were found in the dumped waste by an Environmental Enforcement Officer. Despite numerous requests, Mr Denton failed to provide the council with any information as to how his waste came to be in the flytip.

New job for former South Oxfordshire council boss David Hill who left after £180k pay out David Hill, former chief executive of South Oxfordshire and Vale of White Horse District Councils A FORMER Oxfordshire council boss who left with a £180k pay-out has a new job as a health chief. David Hill was the joint chief executive of South Oxfordshire District Council and Vale of White Horse District Council between September 2016 and June 2017. Now, the former council leader has a new role, having been employed by NHS Improvements as the System Improvement Director at Worcestershire Acute Hospitals Trust in August this year.

Nine councillors abstained, including all but one of the Green Party group. Former Green councillor Sue Roberts resigned from the party to sit as an independent councillor after voting against the Plan. Sarah Gray, formerly a Lib Dem, also resigned from her party after she voted against the Plan. The two have now joined former Conservative councillor Elizabeth Gillespie in a new group on the council called the South Oxfordshire Residents Team, or SORT. SORT describe themselves as ‘working co-operatively across South Oxfordshire Council, to protect and restore our unique and ancient heritage and our natural world, to reduce carbon emissions, and to stand up for the people of South Oxfordshire’.
