SA concession cardholders to get free solar systems
South Australian Premier Steven Marshall has announced that 1000 concession cardholders in the state will have access to free solar systems.
The Premier announced the Switch for Solar trial program in May, enabling households to swap their energy concession payments for brand new rooftop systems.
The pilot will see 1000 homes in selected suburbs given a chance to trade their concession payments over ten years for a 4.4 kilowatt solar PV system installed at no cost.
Concession card holders currently receive $215.10 per year from the Cost of Living Concession and up to $231.41 per year towards their energy bill, totalling $446.51. By trading these for a solar system, they will save up to $665 more a year on their energy costs.
Annastacia Palaszczuk s salary will soar to $427,500 after a tribunal decision was made - despite the Queensland Premier last year calling for no pay rises for any state MPs until 2023.
The premier s annual pay will be bumped up from $399,955 to roughly $427,561 thanks to a ruling by the Queensland Independent Remuneration Tribunal on Monday.
Ms Palaszczuk had earlier asked for pay to be frozen while the coronavirus pandemic was ongoing, sharing a post to social media that read: Annastacia declares no pay rises for Queensland MPs until 2023 .
The pay rise will make her the second highest paid premier in Australia, tailing just behind Victorian leader Daniel Andrews who sits on $441,439 a year.
