Ji Hoon Yong, 25, was arrested Jan. 4 after an observant shopper at a Walmart on Center Drive in San Marcos called the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department to report him as the man seen in security camera footage shown on NBC 7 and other local media outlets. San Diego County Sheriff s Department released this photo of Ji Hoon Yong on Friday in an effort to help locate any other potential victims in the alleged series of attacks.

Man sought for alleged sexual battery of 3 women in North County stores

NORTH COUNTY    Sheriff’s investigators are seeking help from the public to identify a man accused of sexually battering women on at least three occasions at North County stores in the week before Christmas. According to investigators, the man approached the victims from behind, grabbed their shoulders and then pressed himself against their backsides, sheriff’s Lt. Ricardo Lopez said. When the women would turn around to confront the man, he claimed to have confused them for a friend. Surveillance videos from the stores showed the man touching his genitals underneath his clothing before and after touching his victims, Lopez said in a news release.

One alleged sexual battery incident took place at 8:30 p.m. on Dec. 18 at the Target store in the 1700 block of University Drive in Vista. Another allegedly took place around 4:30 p.m. Dec. 24 at the Michael s in the 1800 block of University Drive in Vista. The third allegedly occurred about two hours later at the Ralphs grocery store in the 300 block of South Twin Oaks Valley Road in San Marcos.

Robber targets bank in San Marcos

SAN MARCOS    A man robbed a teller at a Chase bank in San Marcos on Thursday, and deputies searched but didn’t locate him, a sheriff’s official said. The thief, who was carrying a red, white and blue skateboard, waited in line until a bank teller called him to a counter. He then handed over a handwritten note that read, “Give me all your 50’s and 100’s and give me the note back,” FBI Agent Peter Casey said. The teller gave the man an undisclosed amount of money, and the thief left. Someone at the bank, in a shopping center on South Twin Oaks Valley Road near East Barnham Drive, reported the heist about 11:50 a.m. Sheriff’s Lt. Glen Twyman said the witness did not see any weapon.
