Housebuilders and developers have been put on notice for a massive £5.2bn framework.
The deal, which is being procured by Southern Construction Framework (SCF), has been set up to support public sector residential construction and development across the South-east, London and South-west.

The deal is set to last four years
The framework, which is now open to tender, is inviting expressions of interest from residential developers and builders of all sizes. Firms have until 2 July to register their interest.
The four-year framework has been broken up into a number of lots and sub-lots based on geography, project size, value, and required specialism.

A mammoth £5.2bn residential development and construction framework covering the South of England has opened for tender.
The residential delivery and development framework is organised by Southern Construction Framework, a joint venture between Hampshire Council and Devon County Council. The framework is set to run for four years and will be available to all public bodies across the South.
The agreement has been broken down into four lots, two covering design-and-build contracts and two covering development deals. The design-and-build lots are split between schemes of 10-75 houses and schemes of more than 65 houses. The development lots are split on the same basis. SCF said it expects to appoint contractors and developers to more than one lot.

The four-lot framework will be for the design, construction or development of housing schemes via either development agreements or JV agreements.
The first lot will be for either the construction or design and construction of schemes providing 10 to 75 homes, with the second lot being for schemes of 65 dwellings and above.

The National Satellite Test Facility (NSTF), the first of its kind in the UK that will help more complex spacecraft get ready for launch, continues to take shape at the Rutherford Appleton Laboratory (RAL) Space site in Oxfordshire. More than 900 tonnes of steel framework and 3000mᶟ of concrete completed the main structure of the £105 million test centre last October. Construction partners Mace have since installed the suspension system for the vibration facility; this will test satellites and payloads up to 7000 kg to ensure that they can withstand the bumpy ride into space. Work is also being carried out on an Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) chamber – an area free from electromagnetic background noise, where spacecraft electronics can be checked and tested.
