Contractors on alert for £5 2bn housing framework

Contractors on alert for £5.2bn housing framework A mammoth £5.2bn residential development and construction framework covering the South of England has opened for tender. The residential delivery and development framework is organised by Southern Construction Framework, a joint venture between Hampshire Council and Devon County Council. The framework is set to run for four years and will be available to all public bodies across the South. The agreement has been broken down into four lots, two covering design-and-build contracts and two covering development deals. The design-and-build lots are split between schemes of 10-75 houses and schemes of more than 65 houses. The development lots are split on the same basis. SCF said it expects to appoint contractors and developers to more than one lot.

United Living appoints new chief operating officer

Conor Bray has been appointed as the new chief operating officer at United Living. The move is internal, with Bray moving up from managing director of the company’s property services division. He replaces Darren Moseley, who left the company at the end of April after eight years at the firm and almost two as chief operating officer. Moseley initially joined United Living from the Apollo Group in October 2012. United Living group chief executive and chairman Neil Armstrong said Bray had taken over as the company prepares to grow. Residential and maintenance focused United Living merged with utilities and maintenance outfit Fast Flow in 2019 to form an enlarged £400m group.

Vistry upgrades profit target after strong start to 2021

Vistry upgrades profit target after strong start to 2021 Vistry CEO Greg Fitzgerald Vistry’s profit and cash performance in 2021 should be “significantly ahead” of its previous estimates, after the company reported very strong demand across the first few months of the year. The Kingshill-based company, formed through a merger of Bovis Homes and parts of Galliford Try last year, said pre-tax profit should reach around £325m this year, up from the previous estimate of at least £310m, after build rates reached “pre-pandemic rates or higher” in the first months of 2021. Vistry chief executive Greg Fitzgerald said: “As we approach the end of our first half, we anticipate results for the six months will be well ahead of our previous expectations.”

Tenants at Prospect House, in the North Circular Road, all receive housing benefit for their studio, one-bed or two-bedroom flats even if they work full time. Three families out of the 15 facing eviction in May have been found alternative accommodation by Brent Council but the remaining 12 continue to live in limbo.
