The New Mexico Department of Transportation Park and Ride will increase service to support the reinstated full schedule on New Mexico Rail Runner Express on May 24, 2021. The trains will resume running on a full weekday and weekend schedule. Train capacity is limited to 25 percent or 160 seats. Visit www.riometro.org/CivicAlerts.aspx?AID=277 for more information.
Santa Fe South Capitol and New Mexico 599 Rail Runner Station shuttles will connect with three morning northbound trains and three afternoon/evening southbound trains. The early morning Purple bus from Albuquerque will resume service. Blue, Purple and Orange routes remain slightly modified to connect with the South Capitol Station shuttles. Currently, there are no plans to resume service on the Turquoise Route.

SANTA FE, N.M. (AP) Police arrested a man in a shooting that left one person dead and another injured at a train station in New Mexico s capital city.
Matthew Arellano, 22, was taken into custody Tuesday near his home about 2 miles (3 kilometers) from the station in Santa Fe, police spokesman Anthony Tapia said.

New Mexico Eliminates Police Immunity From Prosecution -

Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham signed civil rights reforms Wednesday that eliminate police immunity from prosecution in state courts, in response to protests and concerns about police brutality that have swept the nation.
Lujan Grisham signed the Democrat-sponsored bill amid the trial of Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin on murder charges in the May 25, 2020, death of George Floyd. Video of Floyd, losing consciousness while pinned to the pavement by police officers, triggered a national reckoning over racism and police brutality.
¨This is not an anti-police bill, Lujan Grisham said in a news release. This bill does not endanger any first responder or public servant so long as they conduct themselves professionally within the bounds of our constitution and with a deep and active respect for the sacred rights it guarantees all of us.
