The City of Glendale may finally get its long-postponed entertainment center, with a development company set to develop ten acres of city-owned land as the Glendale Entertainment District, with a concert venue, movie theater, restaurants, nightclubs and a resort hotel. Back in the ’70s and early ’80s, we were kind of known as the entertainment area of Denver metro. Thanks to a Glendale City Council vote on May 26, Central Street Capital now has the contract and go-ahead to break ground on the $150 million project this fall, with a targeted opening date of late 2023. The daughter of John Henry Thompson and Sarah Ellen Facer Thompson, Thompson was orn at Drakes Branch in Charlotte County on November 7, 1866. Her father had served in the ighteenth Virginia Infantry as a tailor, spending most of the American Civil ar (1861–1865) handling clothing at the Confederate quartermaster depot in ichmond. Soon after he died, Thompson and her English-born mother moved to Richmond in 886 to live with Thompson’s brother, Otis, a telegraph operator. Police responded to the 400 block of South Cherry Street to check for the source of a bad smell when they said they found the body of Anthony Garret Absher, 31, inside of a construction dumpster. The investigation started and the SBI was asked for assistance, police said.
