Nashville kids still getting vaccines, despite Tennessee halting outreach

Parents and students ambled in and out of a school gym in South Nashville Friday though where Metro Nashville Public Schools, in partnership with the Metro Health Department, Neighborhood Health and Nashville Diaper Connection, hosted a vaccine clinic. Viviana Sandoval brought her son, Orlando Torres, 13, to the McMurray Middle School Friday. The middle schooler needed to receive the required TDAP (tetanus-diphtheria-pertussis) vaccine for seventh grade but he also opted in for the COVID-19 vaccine as well. Torres, like most Metro Nashville students, spent most of the school year learning remotely. Once schools reopened, Torres was again sent home to quarantine after a classmate tested positive for COVID-19.

(WTVF) — A man has died following being struck by a vehicle in South Nashville Friday night. The incident took place at the intersection of Nolensville Pike and Welshwood Drive shortly around 9:15 p.m. According to Metro Nashville police, 31-year-old Shannon Mullen was driving her Volkswagen Eos north on Nolensville Pike when she struck the victim, identified as 55-year-old Kenneth Sisco. The man appeared to have been in a crosswalk prior to the collision. The man was taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center, where he died.
