Sentencing set for Eyota teenager charged in brother s death

The Eyota teenager charged with killing his 5-year-old brother in June 2020 is scheduled to be sentenced in Olmsted County District Court later this month.
Kaleb Wolfe Smith, 18, is charged with second-degree murder-without intent, domestic assault by strangulation and first-degree manslaughter. Smith was 17 at the time of the death and originally charged via a juvenile delinquency petition.
He has since been certified as an adult in court. Smith pleaded guilty to a charge of first-degree manslaughter in the juvenile delinquency petition and the plea will transfer to the adult case.
ROCHESTER, Minn. (KTTC) Rochester Police said accidental drowning caused the death of a 27-year-old woman whose body was found at the Gates of Rochester Apartments.
The woman s body was found in October of 2020. The cause of death was determined by the Southern Minnesota Regional Medical Examiner s Office.
Police called the death suspicious at the time of the discovery.

The Goodhue County Sheriff s Office has received positive identification of the individual found in a burned-out vehicle in front of a rural Kenyon home on New Year s Eve.
Corey Lee Cassidy, 36 of Dodge Center was positively identified yesterday afternoon by the Southern Minnesota Regional Medical Examiner s Office.
The Goodhue County Sheriff s Office news release states, Our investigation indicates that accidental carbon monoxide asphyxiation may have been the result. During this investigation, there has never been any indication of foul play.
The Goodhue County Sheriff s Office says, The investigation indicates the fire started in the area of the vehicle and spread to the home but the cause of the fire is unknown.

The Goodhue County Sheriff s Office said the Southern Minnesota Regional Medical Examiner’s Office has positively identified the deceased in this case as Cory Lee Cassidy, 36, of Dodge Center. Our investigation indicates that accidental carbon monoxide asphyxiation may have been the result. KENYON The remains found in a burning vehicle in Holden Township have been identified as that of a 36-year-old Dodge Center man, the Goodhue County Sheriff s Office released Friday.
Cory Lee Cassidy s body was discovered after emergency responders were called to a structure fire at 6:14 p.m. in the 45000 block of Highway 56 Boulevard, which is in Holden Township, north of Kenyon. At the time of the fire, the property homeowners and residents had been accounted for. No information was released Friday on Cassidy s connection to the location where he was found.
