HIGH TIMES electronic communications are booming A RECENT Scottish Tribunal result could pave the way for a fairer negotiating position between landowners and operators looking to install or upgrade telecom mast sites on their land. With more people working from home during the pandemic, demand for reliable and faster internet coverage has only increased, but heightened connectivity goes hand in hand with increased access to land to build masts. Since the reformed Electronic Communications Code was introduced towards the end of 2017, operators have had the upper hand in negotiating with landowners over accessing their land. The Scottish Farmer has previously reported on some of the ‘bullying tactics’ used by operators to push through agreements quickly.
Rectory Road in Piddlehinton. Picture: Google A ROAD through a Dorset village has been closed for a number of hours after a vehicle crashed into a pole. Police officers were called to a collision involving a silver Mazda on Rectory Road in Piddlehinton near Dorchester at 6.54am on Thursday, January 7. Officers at the scene saw that the vehicle had crashed into a telegraph pole, forcing the road to be closed in both directions to allow staff from Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks to repair the damaged utility pole. The driver was not injured in the collision and the vehicle has been recovered from the scene.

Electricity workers from Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks (SSEN Distribution) put their skills and equipment to good use prior to the latest coronavirus restrictions, helping to cut away trees that were threatening to damage the iconic, 196-year-old ice house at Helmsdale.
Built in 1824, the ice house sits on the river s edge in the village centre and was originally used for the preserving and packing of salmon. The cavernous structure stretches back deep under what is now the village football pitch, with the grass originally making for better insulation of all the contents inside.

DOZENS of homes on the south side of Loch Ness were without power this morning after a fault on overhead lines.
Forty-six homes and businesses in Dores, Gorthleck, Errogie and Torness were left without electricity following the outage at 6.39am.
