Trust hails role of Human Resources ‘leader’ in roll-out of Covid vaccine
Ann McConnell, who is set to retire, has played a ‘big part’ in the Trust’s successful delivery of over 60,000 vaccinations

The Western Trust has today paid tribute to one of its board members for her role in organising and implementing an ‘extraordinary’ local vaccination programme.
Next week the local Trust will mark 12 months since the first pandemic patient was admitted to the South West Acute Hospital.
Over 200 patients have died in Altnagelvin Hospital and South West Acute Hospital since who had a Covid-19 diagnosis.
Dr Marina Barron, Dr Pat McGowan and Staff Nurse Emily Cross Three ‘Western Health and Social Care Trust (Western Trust) Emergency Department (ED) staff members at the South West Acute Hospital have been congratulated on running a full marathon in Fermanagh on the 14th November 2020 to raise funds for nurses training. Dr Marina Barron, Dr Pat McGowan and Staff Nurse Emily Cross wish to thank everyone who contributed so generously to this fundraiser with all monies raised donated to the Emergency Department Nurses Training Fund.
It is believed that he is awaiting surgery. A PSNI spokesperson said: “Police received a report of a single-vehicle road traffic collision involving a lorry at the junction of the Derrylin Road and Stragowna Road at around 12pm [today, February 25]. One man was taken to hospital for treatment of his injuries. A spokesperson from the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service said: NIAS received a 999 call at 11.57 on Thursday, 25 February 2021 following reports of an RTC at Stragowna Road, Enniskillen. NIAS despatched one Emergency crew and one Rapid Response Paramedic to the scene. Following assessment and initial treatment at the scene, one patient was taken to the South West Acute Hospital by ambulance.
There was widespread sadness following the death of Mrs. Isobel Knox, late of Tattykeel Kesh, on December 17, 2020. Isobel was born in the townland of Polfore, Dromore on June 27, 1929. She was the third eldest of 11 children to Fanny Jane and James Gilmore. She grew up on the family farm and helped with the daily chores, she attended Curley school outside Dromore. When she left school she continued to work at home until at the age of 16 she came to reside at Tattykeel, Kesh with Herbert Gilmore in December 1945 and helped to nurse his sister and look after his house. It was during her time at Tattykeel that Isobel met her future husband Bertie Knox, a local builder/contractor and farmer from Tullynagin Ederney.
