The health service in Northern Ireland was inching closer to collapse last night as the number of seriously ill Covid-19 patients was predicted to double within days.
Northern Ireland’s health chiefs have warned that the number of people with Covid-19 in hospital will double by the third week of January compared to the current figures.
Northern Ireland's health minister on Sunday night said COVID-19 was placing the healthcare system under pressure "like never before," as one hospital appealed on social media for the immediate help of all off-duty healthworkers nearby.
The donor milk âreally took that pressure offâ, she explains.
âI said I wanted to feed her myself but they said that would come in time, and in the meantime the milk was there for her.â
Their story inspired another donor. Ms Coyle says a friend of hers who had a baby around the same time âhad excess milk and she donated some of her milk because she was touched by Aoifeâs storyâ.
This is often how it works â mothers find out about the milk bank because of their own experience, or that of someone close to them, and donate to help others.
