Vaccination drive still going strong on Wednesday

The vaccination drives at the North Central Health Authority and the Southwest Regional Health Authority continued to attract thousands of people on Wednesday after vaccination began again on Monday.
Over 2,000 people were vaccinated at the sites overseen by each RHA.
NCRHA CEO Davlin Thomas said 1,471 people were vaccinated on Tuesday, and he expected approximately the same number on Wednesday. He said there were people still showing up without appointments demanding the vaccine.

Despite a drizzly morning in south Trinidad, scores of people flocked to the Southern Academy for the Performing Arts (SAPA) on Wednesday, hoping to get vaccinated.
The covid19 vaccination rollout started on Monday at this site at Todd Street in San Fernando as an additional South West Regional Health Authority facility.
Since then, people with and without appointments have been attending. Tents were put outside the building to limit the number of people inside and to maintain physical distancing.

The Honourable Terrence Deyalsingh, Minister of Health, delivered the Opening Remarks. He expressed his gratitude to all participants for agreeing to contribute their expertise and time to examine this matter of national concern.
While Vaccine Induced Prothrombotic Immune Thrombocytopenia (VIPT) is rare, the possible link between this syndrome and the administration of certain COVID-19 vaccines has impacted the COVID-19 vaccination policy in some international territories. It was thus determined that further discussions were warranted.

Point Fortin MP Kennedy Richards Jr has extended best wishes to Mayor Saleema Thomas who has tested positive for the coronavirus.
“The constituency and I stand with her at this time, to wish her a speedy recovery and all God’s blessings. She will get through this,” he said on Sunday.
Thomas, who is expecting her third child, confirmed on Saturday morning that she had contracted the virus and is in isolation at her home. She expressed some anxiety at being positive for this virus while pregnant.
