Mysore/Mysuru: The Mysuru Division of
South Western Railway (SWR) celebrated International Women’s Day in a novel way by running an all-women crew of a train yesterday.
The authorities decided to run Train No 06535 Mysuru-Solapur Golgumbaz Express with all-women crew, comprising loco pilot and assistant loco pilot, guard, ticket checking staff and security personnel. Through this they wanted to stress railway’s commitment to create a gender equal workforce to achieve all-round development of organisation.
Divisional Railway Manager of SWR Mysuru, Rahul Agarwal, President of South Western Railway Women Welfare Organisation (SWRWWO) Pooja Agarwal and other members of SWRWWO flagged off the train.

An all-woman crew was in charge of the Gol Gumbaz Express which was flagged off from the city station on Monday.
This was part of the International Women’s Day celebrations by the South Western Railways which also formed a women power chain to mark the occasion.
The loco pilot and the assistant loco pilot, guard, ticket checking staff and security personnel on duty on the Mysuru-Bengaluru stretch of the journey were women and this was to underscore the commitment of the railways to create a gender equal workforce to achieve all round development of the organisation.
Mysore/Mysuru:
South Western Railway Women Welfare Organisation (SWRWWO), in association with Indian Oil Corporation Ltd. (IOCL), had organised a safety awareness programme at Lalita High School. It was inaugurated by Pooja Agarwal, President, SWRWWO.
As part of the Customer Day Celebration, IOCL conducted quiz competition for school children, fireless cooking competition, free health check-up for their customers, LPG safety clinic, battery check-up, oil check and Pollution Under Control (PUC) check for vehicles.
As part of the programme, an exhibition of domestic safety equipment and a safety seminar on the usage of gas at kitchen and a demonstration was conducted.
