24-year-old man dies in shooting on southwest side

Apr 19, 2021 / 02:41 PM EST INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) A man died after a Sunday afternoon shooting on the city’s southwest side near the Indianapolis International Airport. Officers with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department were called around 3:30 p.m. Sunday to the 3200 block of Joey Way, near the intersection of South Lynhurst Drive and West Troy Avenue, on a report of shots fired. Demarcus Johnson, 24, was found by police with a gunshot wound. He died at the scene. Man hospitalized after leading police on chase in stolen car

Updated: 12:54 AM EST December 17, 2020 INDIANAPOLIS One man is dead and another is in the hospital after a police chase in Indianapolis Tuesday. It started with IMPD officers responding to a report of a stolen vehicle on Washington Street near Auburn Street just after 5:45 p.m. When officers arrived, the found a man in the stolen vehicle and tried to talk to him. He drove away, hitting a police car at least twice and leading officers on a chase. The suspect, identified as 28-year-old James Shirley, then crashed at West Morris Street and South Lynhurst Drive. He lost control and drove into a car that was stopped at the intersection.
