TACLOBAN CITY – A village chair was nabbed in a buy-bust operation on Tuesday in Hinunangan, Southern Leyte.
Police said Edward Demiao Almine, the village chair of Brgy. Talisay, Hinunangan town, is listed as a high-value individual in the regional level. He is also a drug surrenderer in the government’s anti-drug campaign.
A joint posse from the Southern Leyte Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit and Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency conducted the buy-bust operation which resulted in his arrest.
The operating troops were able to purchase from the suspect a heat-sealed transparent plastic sachet of suspected shabu for P30,000.
