Drivers injured after crash at Cass Co. intersection

CASS COUNTY, Mich. â Two people were injured after a car and a pickup truck collided at an intersection in Cass County.
The Cass County Sheriffâs Office says it happened at M-62 and Brownsville St. in Jefferson Township around 12 p.m. Tuesday.
The sheriffâs office says a car driven by a 26-year-old from Indiana failed to yield to the right of way of a pickup truck at the intersection and the two vehicles collided.
The car spun around before coming to a stop in a nearby yard. The pickup truck rolled multiple times, according to deputies, and the trailer it was towing disengaged and ended up about 150 yards away from the crash site.

JEFFERSON TOWNSHIP, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – The Cass County Sheriff’s Office is reporting that two people were injured in a two-vehicle crash that occurred Tuesday in Jefferson Township.
It happened just after 12 p.m. at the intersection of M-62 Highway and Brownsville Street.

Officials say that a car driven by 26-year-old Courtney Wilburn of Mishawaka, IN, entered the intersection west bound from the stop sign. Police say she failed to yield right of way to a south bound pick-up, which was driven by 36-year-old Justin Goins of Cassopolis.
ELKHART â Police have determined a Tuesday morning shooting, in which a 5-year-old boy was shot in the chest, was accidental.
The boy found a gun in the house and the gun went off when he was handling the weapon, Elkhart Police Department detectives said.Â
Officers and medics were dispatched to the residence in the 1300 block of Wildflower Street in the Four Seasons Mobile Home Park just after 11 a.m. Tuesday morning for reports of an accidental discharge.
The boy was rushed to South Bend Memorial Hospital with a life-threatening gunshot wound to his chest. He was then flown to Riley Children s hospital and his status has been changed to non-life threatening according to police.
