NGOs set up help desk at TIMS to assist visitors Updated: Updated: Five counsellors stationed on premises Share Article Five counsellors stationed on premises A COVID-19 help desk was set up at Telangana Institute of Medical Sciences (TIMS) by city-based NGO Helping Hand Foundation, and Modern Architects for Rural India. The initiative is sponsored by Azim Premji Foundation. A team of five counsellors will be present at the hospital and two volunteers at the entry triage to check for reports of patients and to facilitate admissions. Two more counsellors will be at a triage within the hospital. They would get a list of all the in-patient cases from the hospital. The counsellors will inform family members or attendants about the health status of the patients. They will also facilitate movement of essential items to patients admitted in the hospital.

Senior Congress leader and Nampally constituency incharge Feroz Khan along with Greater Hyderabad Congress Committee Vice-President Rashid Khan have submitted a written complaint in Narayanguda Police Station. In his complaint, Feroz Khan has said that the officials should be booked under the murder charges as the patients died due to the carelessness in the supply of oxygen.

The Kerala government, which had been sending surplus medical oxygen to neighbouring state Tamil Nadu and also to Andhra Pradesh, has now halted the supply citing higher demand at home. Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh have both sent SOS calls to the Centre demanding higher allotment of oxygen. Tamil Nadu is still sending oxygen to Andhra from its two plants, but officials said this is “draining the state of an important resource”.
