Hyderabad (Telangana) [India], May 20 (ANI): As the second wave of Covid-19 sweeps across India, another teacher in Telangana succumbed to the virus while she was on poll duty during a by-election last month.
G Sandhya Rani, who was on a duty during the by-polls for the Nagarjuna Sagar seat on April 17, died on May 8 after battling the virus in ICU.
According to the Telangana State United Teachers Federation, with Sandhya s death, the toll of teachers who succumbed to COVID-19 after election duty during the Nagarjuna Sagar by-polls has reached 15.

Over 500 teachers who attended poll duties during the Nagarjuna Sagar Assembly election and Warangal and Khammam Corporation election had tested positive.

Hyderabad: Around 225 teachers including 59 who retired from service, succumbed to COVID-19 in Telangana during the second wave.
According to Telangana State United Teachers Federation (TSUTF) president, K Jangaiah and general secretary, Chava Ravi, the tragedy struck almost 225 teachers among which 116 were currently working and 59 were retired from service already.
Over 500 teachers who attended poll duties during the Nagarjuna Sagar Assembly election and Warangal and Khammam Corporation election had tested positive.
Telangana government school teachers have demanded resumption of physical classes for classes 1 to 8 in the state. They have written to Chitra Ramachandran, Special Chief Secretary, Education on the same.

Hyderabad: The government teachers body, Telangana State United Teachers Federation (TSUTF) have demanded that the government allow upper primary schools, Classes 6-8 from February 15, and primary schools from February 22.
They cited the example of Andhra Pradesh where primary school was reopened from February 1. A similar demand has been raised numerous times by the TRSMA, the private schools welfare body since the reopening of the schools in the state.
