Hyderabad: Protesting against the Telangana government’s decision to form welfare commissions and eliminate trade unions, the members of the Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC) employees union organized a hunger strike at Indira Park on Saturday. More than a year has passed since the employees called off their historic 52-day strike, but the state government is yet to fulfill their demands as promised, they said.

Double-decker buses are set to roll out on the city streets again with the Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC) calling for tenders for 25 such vehicles.
According to the specification mentioned in the tender, these double-decker buses will be non-AC, and have to comply with the BS-VI emission standards.
TSRTC bus fares likely to go up

Hyderabad: The fares of Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC) buses are likely to go up in the near future.
A report submitted to Chief Minister of Telangana State K Chandrasekhar Rao suggested that in order to increase the salaries of the corporation’s employees, TSRTC bus fares need to be increased apart from financial assistance from the government.
On Thursday, the CM held a review meeting with TSRTC officials at Pragathi Bhavan.

Explaining the reasons for suggesting a hike in TSRTC bus fares, the official said that last time when the ticket prices were increased, the price of diesel was Rs 67 per liter.

The Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC) is operating more than 3,000 buses to various destinations in Andhra Pradesh for the convenience of passengers visiting their native places. The special services, which began January 10 will continue up to January 18, to clear the festival rush.
“For the first time, TSRTC is operating such a huge number of buses for Sankranti, as part of the agreement reached with the APSRTC to operate our services to different destinations in Andhra Pradesh. The occupancy ratio is good,” a TSRTC official said.

There were fewer passengers compared to previous years at various bus stations on Wednesday, a day before Sankranti.
To cater to the rush of passengers usually witnessed during the festive season, Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC) had planned to operate 4,981 special buses over a period of eight days – from January 8-14.
However, Jubilee Bus Station, which caters to passengers proceeding to destinations such as Adilabad and Nizamabad, and Mahatma Gandhi Bus Station saw a relatively lesser crowd. According to sources within the TSRTC familiar with bus schedules, around 2,200 special buses were pressed into service over the past eight days.
