ACB arrests Telangana electricity department engineer for accepting bribe.  |  Photo Credit: IANS Hyderabad: A government employee at Telangana State Southern Power Distribution Company Limited (TSSPDCL) was arrested by Anti-Corruption Bureau in Hyderabad for allegedly accepting and demanding a bribe worth Rs 35,000. The accused identified as Gajawada Manohar who was working as a Divisional Engineer (Commercial) in Chief General Manager (Commercial) office. He was caught red-handed by the ACB officials on Thursday at his chamber, an official statement said.

Currently, the electricity consumption has reached up to 50 million units.  It is likely to touch 60 million units by the end of April and 75 million units in May. Every year, new electric connections increase with the onset of summer. It also contributes to the increase in electricity demand. According to the Telangana State Southern Power Distribution Company Limited (TSSPDCL) officials, currently, the peak hour consumption is 2000 megawatt which may increase to 3500 megawatts in April-May.

Chinese hackers attempt to block power supply in Telangana; bid to attack TS Transco, TS Gen thwarted

(Representational photo - Pixabay)  Hyderabad: A massive Mumbai-type power outage was averted in Telangana after the Central Electricity Authority alerted the Telangana government that the Computer Emergency Response Team of India (CERT-In) has suspected that Chinese hackers may target TS Transco and TS Genco. According to ToI report, Chinese hackers’ groups allegedly targeted Telangana State Load Dispatch Centre (TSLDC), however, the cyber attack was successfully thwarted by the state government agencies. On receiving information from a trusted source about a China-based groups command and control servers trying to communicate with systems belonging to the TSLDC, TS Transco and TS Genco were alerted and asked to take adequate measures.
