Monadnock Ledger-Transcript Published: 2/24/2021 4:36:13 PM Like neighbors Dublin and Rindge, Jaffrey has selected Consolidated Communications to provide town-wide broadband internet service to every address in town, if voters approve a ten-year $1.2 million bond for the project. During its regular board meeting Tuesday, the Jaffrey Select Board considered proposals from both Consolidated Communications and Comcast to provide fiber internet to underserved residents. The federal definition of broadband internet is 3 Mbps for download speed, and 25 Mbps for upload speed – both must be true to qualify as high speed internet. Towns are allowed by law to enter into bonds to build infrastructure to provide broadband speeds.

VSG: Lumen, AT&T, Spectrum Enterprise Are Again Top Carrier Ethernet Providers Posted on Share Home » VSG: Lumen, AT&T, Spectrum Enterprise Are Again Top Carrier Ethernet Providers Lumen (CenturyLink), AT&T and Spectrum Enterprise, in that order, retained their positions as the top carrier Ethernet providers on Vertical Systems Group’s 2020 Carrier Ethernet Leaderboard.  Vertical Systems Group (VSG) says that overall port growth was flat due to the COVID-19 pandemic. There were four other providers on the leaderboard, which is based on attaining at least 4% of the U.S. retail Ethernet market. They were Verizon, Comcast, Windstream and Cox.

The Monadnock Region town of Jaffrey has selected Consolidated Communications to establish town-wide broadband internet service to every address in town, pending voter approval of a ten-year $1.2 million bond for the project. Construction of the so-called fiber-to-the-premises network is expected to be completed within two years. Consolidated has agreed to underwrite the bond for the infrastructure and will use a set user fee – about $11 a month – to pay back the bond.
