New Delhi: The Ministry of Labour and Employment has finalised rules under the four labour codes paving the way for making reforms a reality by notifying those for implementation soon. The four broad codes on wages, industrial relations, social security and occupational safety, health & working conditions (OSH) have already been notified after getting the President s assent. But for implementing these four codes, the rules need to be notified.

Companies will be allowed to tweak daily work hours, with the consent of their employees, from 8 to 12 hours in a day, as long as the upper limit of 48 hours is not breached. Govt will soon offer companies flexibility to adopt four-day work week. 
New Delhi: The Centre will offer companies the flexibility to choose four-day work week with a ceiling of 48 hours in a week in the final rules that would be notified soon.
Union Labour Secretary Apurva Chandra clarified that individual companies will be allowed to tweak daily work hours, with the consent of their employees, from 8 to 12 hours in a day, as long as the upper limit of 48 hours is not breached, mentioning that employers will have to ensure that if they choose a four-day workweek, there has to be a three-day paid leaves.
