ROME CITY â A man wanted on felony drug charges in Kentucky was apprehended without incident Monday in Rome City thanks to the combined efforts of the Noble County Sheriffâs Department, the Rome City Town Marshalâs Office and the Indiana State Police.
Denzil Slone, 46, formerly of Garrett and currently of Kentucky, was arrested at 3:30 p.m. outside of the Sylvan Housing Authority apartments in the 100 block of Kerr Street. He was booked into the Noble County Jail.
According to Indiana State Police Trooper Brian Kreger, Slone was wanted by authorities in Knott County, Kentucky, on two felony drug charges, including trafficking in heroin. Kentucky authorities considered Slone to be dangerous.
AUBURN â A Waterloo man is facing a charge of child seduction after allegedly engaging in sexual conduct with a 16-year-old girl.
Dustin Wood, 35, of the 600 block of East Union Street, is charged with the Level 5 felony in DeKalb Superior Court 1.
According to a police affidavit of probable cause filed Thursday, Indiana State Police Detective Jake Quick was asked to investigate an allegation of child seduction. The act was alleged to have taken place between June 19 and July 31, 2020, when the alleged victim was age 16 and Wood was 34.
Quick said he was told the alleged victimâs stepmother had observed messages on the girlâs cell phone that something sexual had occurred between the girl and Wood.
GARRETT â The trial of a Garrett woman who is accused of killing her husband has been rescheduled from September to March of 2022.
Michelle Converset of the 1100 block of South Franklin Street, was arrested May 29, 2020, at 7:55 p.m. She is charged with murder and aggravated battery.
Converset appeared in DeKalb Superior Court I for a final pre-trial conference Tuesday. Her five-day jury trial had been scheduled to begin Sept. 13.
Judge Adam Squiller noted a defendantâs motion for continuance had been filed Tuesday.
In the motion, Conversetâs attorneys, Jeffrey Terrill and Jeffrey Stineburg, said in preparation for the trial, the defense has hired an expert witness, Dr. Gregory Davis, to testify at trial.
