ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan stressed on Monday the need for united efforts by all segments of the society, including Ulema and Mashaikh to transform Pakistan into a true Islamic welfare state in line with the principles of Riasat-e-Madinah.
“Turning Pakistan into Riasat-e-Madina is not like an on-off switch. It requires change of mindset… a revolution in thinking and united efforts. Imran Khan cannot do it alone,” the Prime Minister said while addressing a conference of Ulema and Mashaikh here. He said Pakistan is the only country in the world which is created in the name of Islam. Ulema and Mashaikh also played an important in that respect and stood by the Father of Nation Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah during the struggle for getting a separate homeland for Muslims of the Sub-continent, he added.
PFUJ to hold long march on Islamabad for workers’ right

LAHORE: The Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists (PFUJ) has announced a long march from Quetta to Islamabad in the first week of April to force the government and the media houses owners to fulfil their obligations towards the media workers.
A meeting of the Federal Executive Council (FEC) of the PFUJ was held over three days in Lahore from January 15 to 17 to discuss a detailed agenda of media and workers’ rights and major challenges facing them. The meeting was chaired by PFUJ President Shahzada Zulfiqar.
The journalist body noted that the media workers had been facing financial hardships for last two years, as evidently there had been an anti-worker alliance between the government and the media houses owners. Christmas cake cutting ceremony held at KMU

PESHAWAR: Vice Chancellor Khyber Medical University (KMU) Peshawar, Prof. Dr. Zia-ul-Haq and Registrar Prof. Dr. Muhammad Saleem Gandapur Wednesday cut a Christmas cake with the Christian community of the university.
The cake-cutting ceremony was held in the committee room of the Vice Chancellor’s secretariat. Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Zia-ul-Haq was the chief guest, as well as heads of various departments were also present at the occasion.
Meanwhile, addressing the Christmas cake cutting ceremony, Prof. Dr. Zia-ul-Haq said that according to the words of Father of the Nation Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, all citizens of different religions and communities living in Pakistan are Pakistanis.

Lahore:The working class paid tribute to the great services of the Father of the Nation Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah on the eve of his birth anniversary by holding a special meeting of Wapda/electricity workers on Thursday at Bakhtiar Labour Hall under the aegis of All Pakistan Wapda Hydro Electric Workers Union CBA.
The workers declared that Quaid-e-Azam was the architect of the successful struggle of the Muslims of the Subcontinent to lead them with exemplary struggle of independence from the British regime by his devoted contribution with statesmanship.
