Former president Bakili Muluzi has become the latest high profile figure in the country to get Covid-19 AstraZaneca vaccine.

Director of Health and Social Services for Blantyre Dr. Gift Kawalazira administered the jab on Muluzi on Monday at his BCA Hill residence in Blantyre.
The high spirited Muluzi cracked jokes as he took the life saving jab in a televised event.
This comes at a time the debate on whether one has to take AstraZeneca Vaccine or not rages across the nation.

The Media Institute of Southern Africa (MISA) Malawi Chapter has expressed shock over the death of World Food Programme (WFP ) Nigeria Reports Officer Cheulekene Mita.
Mita died of COVID-19 on Sartuday in Ghana hospital where she was receiving treatment, according to family members.
In a statement signed by MISA Malawi Charperson Teresa Ndanga, the media body said Mita dedicated her life and talent to serve and save humanity.
“MISA Malawi is deeply shocked with the untimely death of Mita, a journalist who dedicated her life and talent to serve and save humanity. She worked beyond the borders of Malawi to document and tell stories of the suffering and the voiceless for the world to see and assist.

Media fraternity in the country is mourning the death of veteran journalist Cheu Mita who died on Saturday in Accra, Ghana where she was airlifted from Nigeria after suffering from Covid-19.

Family members say program for her funeral will be announced later.
Until her death, Mita was working for World Food Program in Nigeria, a job she picked after years of working as a journalist with Nation Publications.
Her former colleagues and friends are describing her as an ever smiling personality who has mentored many upcoming journalists in the country.

National Bank of Malawi (NBM) plc has rolled out an insurance premium financing facility where the bank will pay annual insurance premiums on behalf of its customers thereby freeing up their cash flow in the process.

Announcing the introduction of the facility in Blantyre, NBM plc Head of Retail Banking Division Oswin Kasunda said the Insurance Premium Finance (IPF) product allows the bank to pay insurance premiums to the insurance company on behalf of the customer and grants a loan to the customer which is repaid in monthly instalments.
