Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/. In our series of highlight artifacts
being kept at the National Museum of Mongolia, we present the model for the
statue of General D.Sukhbaatar. It was made by two craftsmen, M.Baldan-Osor and
D.Mishig, in 1971.
With a wooden base that was made using traditional joinery
techniques and painted green, the model is placed on top of an intricately
decorated red table. Alongside illustrations of floral patterns and the lotus
flower, the table is encrusted with traditional patterns using bronze. While
the statue and the surrounding lions were made of iron, its base was made with

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/. Coins are considered as a type of cultural artifact left
behind by previous generations of humankind hundreds of years ago and they
clearly depict socio-economic situation at the time.
As for nomadic Mongolians, payment instruments were not only limited to livestock, but also currency - which can be seen from the usage of heavy coins as well as cash with the guarantee of gold and silver, depicting the socio-economic relations and cultural level of the nomadic society at the time.
Many types of gold, silver, and bronze coins dated back to the Mongol Empire have been found from various countries so far. Here are three of the coins that are being kept in the collection of the National Museum of Mongolia.

/MONTSAME/ The 1st international
virtual scientific conference themed ‘Mongolian heritage in the world: Archival documents and records’ will be held
by the General Archival Authority of Mongolia on April 29-30 in Ulaanbaatar
city.
Mongolists and researchers
from nine countries including Japan, England, China, Russia, the Republic of
Korea and Mongolia will attend the conference which will be jointly organized
by the Mongolian Academy of Sciences and the International Association for
Mongol Studies.
The attendees will provide
presentations on the interesting facts related to Mongolian history, which are
being preserved at archives, museums, and libraries of their own countries.
