Distribution of relief aid should be non partisan – Dr Friday

There should be no partisan consideration when determining who receives aid coming into the country and when they receive it; leader of the Opposition Dr Godwin Friday has emphasized.
At a media briefing on Wednesday, April 28, the President of the New Democratic Party (NDP) was joined by Senator Shevern John, the NDP’s candidate for North Windward, and Vice President Roland ‘Patel’ Matthews, candidate for North Leeward, both of whom have been evacuated from their homes.
They spoke of their two trips to the zones close to the volcano, up to Sandy Bay on the Windward side, and reaching, on a boat, as far north as the Larikai Valley on the Leeward side.

The St Vincent Co-operative Bank Limited/Penny Bank has pledged to do all in its power to help persons affected by the eruption of La Soufriere volcano.
And, a donation of supplies to the Rotary Club of St. Vincent is just one of the moves made recently by the bank in its efforts to help those displaced by the natural disaster.
On Friday April 23, Rotary Club of St. Vincent’s Club Service Director and Past President, Earl Tash collected food supplies from Penny Bank’s Chief Financial Officer (CFO) Ruth Alves, and the bank’s Marketing Consultant Juno DeRoche.
Republic Bank donates to NEMO

Republic Bank (EC) has joined the ranks of benefactors of the National Emergency Management Organisation (NEMO) in its most challenging time.
The Bank, following on the series of explosive eruptions by the La Soufrière volcano, made a presentation of a quantity of items on Friday 23rd April to NEMO, to aid the ongoing relief efforts.
At the handing over ceremony at NEMO’s headquarters, Ole Montrose, the Bank’s Country Manager - Gregory Bardouille said that the contribution was made on behalf of the (Republic Bank’s) regional grouping.
Residents prevented from entering Red Zones

As part of the effort to safeguard temporarily vacated properties in the Red Zone, the Royal SVG Police Force (RSVGPF) mounted stop and check points at the east and west entrances to the Zone.
One such check point was mounted on Tuesday at Belle Isle on the Leeward. This did not sit well with a number of persons who were desirous of going back to their homes to clean up and take care of their animals.
