COVID-19: Bahrain aims to vaccinate 1 5m of its 1 7m residents

Cairo: An ongoing vaccination campaign against COVID-19 in Bahrain is likely to take up to 300 days for a total of 1.5 million people in the country, according to a media report. Bahrain last week launched a vaccination campaign against the disease for free for its citizens and foreign residents. Around 679,000 expatriates and 712,000 Bahrainis aged over 18 are slated to get the vaccine, Akhbar Al Khaleej newspaper has reported. Health authorities in Bahrain have said that 27 medical centres will be set up to provide vaccination for a maximum of 10,000 persons per day. Bahrain, a country of around 1.7 million population, so far has recorded 90,450 virus cases and 350 related fatalities. Last week, the Kingdom’s National Health Regulatory Authority announced approving the registration of a vaccine against COVID-19 developed by the Chinese pharmaceutical giant Sinopharm.

The last stage is for all citizens and residents who wish to take the vaccine.
