+ The Western Regional Director of the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA), Emmanuel Reinfred Okyere, has said his Office is embarking on an aggressive public campaign, to create awareness on the operations of the Scheme, so as to register more members.
He said a membership drive in 2020 could not achieve its target due to the emergence of Covid-19.
Mr Okyere recounted that in the light of the restrictions imposed by the Covid-19 protocols, Scheme members were being advised to use the mobile renewal platform to renew their membership by dialing the short code 929#.
He therefore encouraged those whose membership has expired to fall on the short code to renew their membership especially now that Covid-19 was surging so as to avoid overcrowding in the Authority’s district offices.

Despite his graduation four years ago from the University of Ghana with a Second Class (Upper division) in Political Science with the Study of Religions, Mr Antwi Boasiako now washes vehicles at the Yaks and Sons car washing bay at North Legon in Accra in order to make a living.
Now 27 years old, Mr Boasiako has been working as a car wash attendant for about five months because many application letters he has sent to various institutions have not secured him a permanent job.
After graduation, he worked on contract with the National Health Insurance Authority but his contract was not renewed after expiry.

The Chairman of the Audit Service Board, Professor Edward Dua Agyeman, has given an assurance that the service will continue to provide solutions to ensure significant financial savings for the country.
He noted that over the years, the service had remained dedicated to sustaining its impact by ensuring that for every money spent by the government on the service, profit was generated from it.
“The Audit Service is determined that every GH¢1 that the government spends on it will be turned around to save GH¢5 for the country,” he said.

Speaking at the launch of the 2020 Financial Year Audits by the Audit Service last Tuesday, Prof. Agyeman said the evidence of such a claim was in the savings made by the service, as reported in the various reports of the Auditor-General.

The Municipal Chief Executive for Obuasi, Honorable Elijah Adansi-Bonah has disclosed that the construction of an ultramodern National Health Insurance Office in Obuasi only lends credence to the fact that Obuasi has made major strides in terms of providing access to quality healthcare to residents in the Municipality.
The MCE said this when he handed over the site for the construction of the Municipal office of NHIS. The office when completed is expected to bring a huge sigh of relief to the Obuasi NHIS who have been renting office accommodation since 2003.
With the increasing population coupled with the small space at the current NHIS office, Honorable Adansi-Bonah said the new office will help the NHIS to serve the people well in a congenial environment.
