Lalong inaugurates special public works programme in Plateau

Inaugurating the programme on Friday in Jos, Lalong, represented by Alhaji Usman Idi, the state Commissioner for Environment, said the programme would address unemployment in the state and country in general. He added that the programme was also designed by the federal government to tackle other vices among youths, particularly at the rural areas. “Without doubt, this programme is a great initiative of government to address the challenge of unemployment in the country, especially at the rural areas.

Zamfara NDE flags off extended special public works program

Daily Post Nigeria Published The Zamfara State wing of the National Directorate of Employment (NDE) has flagged off the extended special public works program for fourteen thousand youths in the state. The Director-General of the Directorate, Abubakar Nuhu Fikpo while addressing participants said the initiative would have commenced some three months ago but was regrettably delayed due to unnecessary and avoidable circumstances. According to him, the extended special public works program has been designed as a veritable tool through which the lives of 774, 000 unemployed youths will be positively touched in the next three months. He said the implementation of the 774,000 extended special public works program will involve recruitment of 14,000 youths in the state with a collective payment to the participants to the tune of N84 million at N60, 000 per participant for the three months period.

Share About 16,000 beneficiaries of the Federal Government Extended Special Public Works (ESPW) programme from Kwara state will earn almost N1 billion in the next three months. Speaking at the official launch of the programme in Ilorin on Saturday, the state Chairman of the selection committee, Olusegun Oyewo said that the beneficiaries which cut across the 16 local government areas of the state, would earn a monthly stipend of N20,000 each for three months. Represented by the vice-chairman, Ahmed Yusuf, Oyewo said that, “the goal is to mitigate lack of job opportunities in rural areas with this three-month programme.” He revealed the metrics used for the selection of the 16,000 beneficiaries.

Nigerian government begins three-month special public works scheme in Jigawa January 8, 2021 The federal government on Friday inaugurated the Extended Special Public Works (ESPW) programme in Jigawa with 1,000 unskilled youth benefiting from the 27 local government areas of the state. Each participant will receive N20,000 monthly for three months for the duration of the programme. The Minister of Water Resources, Suleiman Adamu, who made this known at the ceremony in Dutse, said that the extended programme was an outcome of the pilot SPW in rural areas approved by President Muhammadu Buhari in 2020. Mr. Adamu said that the programme was introduced following the emergence of the novel COVID-19 pandemic, as a measure to cushion the adverse socio-economic effects on citizens.
