Amanda Gorman captured the hearts of people throughout the United States with her passionate performance at President Joe Biden s inauguration last week. Now, the rising star is taking that explosive success all the way to the Super Bowl.
The NFL announced on Wednesday (January 27) that Gorman is scheduled to recite an original poem ahead of Super Bowl LV during the pregame ceremony. Her piece will recognize three honorary game captains who were each selected by the League for their commitment to supporting their communities throughout the coronavirus pandemic. They include the Los Angeles educator Trimaine Davis, Tampa nurse Suzie Dorner, and Marine veteran James Martin.

Amanda Gorman, the 22-year-old West L.A.-raised Harvard grad who became an instant highlight at President Biden’s inauguration when she read her poem “The Hill We Climb,” will be taking her considerable talents to Tampa on February 7 to perform an original poem at Super Bowl LV,
The NFL announced Wednesday that Gorman will be part of the pre-game festivities before the Tampa Bay Buccaneers face off against the Kansas City Chiefs. Although the Super Bowl, which drew 99.9 million U.S. viewers last year, will likely give Gorman an even bigger audience than the inauguration did, she was earning honors long before she ever played D.C.

Jan. 27 (UPI) Amanda Gorman has joined the Super Bowl LV pregame show.
Good Morning America confirmed Wednesday that Gorman, 22, will take part in the Super Bowl LV pregame ceremony in February.

NBC Sports said Gorman will recite an original poem that recognizes three honorary game captains at Super Bowl LV: Los Angeles teacher Trimaine Davis, Tampa nurse Suzie Dorner, and Marine veteran James Martin.

Amanda Gorman is still riding high one week after hypnotizing the nation with her words. Says she also wants people to take her presidential dreams seriously.
Appearing on Tuesday on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, the 22-year-old opened up at President Joe Biden s Jan. 20 swearing-in to become the youngest inaugural poet in U.S. history. Gorman, who hails from Los Angeles, and her mother, Joan Wicks, attended the inauguration ceremony. She says that when they were seated in the earshot of Lady Gaga, Jennifer Lopez, and former President Barack Obama, the two could not help but be a little star-struck.
Among the three honorary captains is
Trimaine Davis, a school teacher in Gorman s native LA, who has worked to secure internet access and laptops for his students to access remote learning during the pandemic. Davis has also hosted tech workshops to help people learn how to use the devices.
Suzie Dorner, a Covid ICU nurse at Tampa General Hospital, will also be recognized for her work during the pandemic. She lost two grandparents to coronavirus and has been serving the Tampa community for more than eight years.
And the third honorary captain is Marine veteran James Martin of Pittsburgh, who has helped connect more than 1,800 veterans and their families to one another virtually through the Wounded Warrior Project and its livestreaming and video game events.
