THE BIDEN PLAN TO END GUN VIOLENCE EPIDEMIC: Buybacks; Smartguns; Ban Dangerous Users and Weapons of War (As defined by ?????) – Soldier of Fortune Magazine

THE BIDEN PLAN TO END OUR GUN VIOLENCE EPIDEMIC Joe Biden knows that gun violence is a public health epidemic. Almost 40,000 people die as a result of firearm injuries every year in the United States, and many more are wounded. Some of these deaths and injuries are the result of mass shootings that make national headlines. Others are the result of daily acts of gun violence or suicides that may not make national headlines, but are just as devastating to the families and communities left behind. Joe Biden has taken on the National Rifle Association (NRA) on the national stage and won – twice. In 1993, he shepherded through Congress the Brady Handgun Violence Prevention Act, which established the background check system that has since kept more than 3 million firearms out of dangerous hands. In 1994, Biden – along with Senator Dianne Feinstein – secured the passage of 10-year bans on assault weapons and high-capacity magazines. As president, Joe Biden will defeat the NRA

This Is the Only State Where Gun Sales Fell Last Year

This Is the Only State Where Gun Sales Fell Last Year Douglas A. McIntyre © Provided by 24/7 Wall St. Gun sales in the United States rose 40% last year to 39,695,315. The figure represents the high water mark in gun sales since the current record-keeping system went into effect. Increases by state varied substantially. In at least one state, sales more than doubled. The Federal Bureau of Investigation tracks gun sales and publishes a list of how many are handled as part of its National Instant Criminal Background Check System. Each month, the figures are reported by state. Nearly everyone put through this system qualifies as a buyer. People who are excluded usually have criminal records. Of the more than 300 million checks that have been done since 1998, there have only been 1.5 million denials. Therefore, the data is the best proxy for U.S. gun sales available.

Nine states looking to ease concealed carry laws

Nine states looking to ease concealed carry laws Jake Dima © Provided by Washington Examiner Nine states have proposed or taken steps to pass legislation that would ease regulations around a citizen s ability to carry a concealed firearm. Legislators in Utah, Tennessee, Montana, Florida, Texas, South Carolina, Indiana, Alabama, and Georgia have put forth bills that would allow residents to carry a handgun without the burden of applying for a permit, a process that often includes training, fingerprinting, and a series of fees. On Friday, the Utah House Judiciary Committee passed an ordinance allowing any resident over the age of 21 to carry a firearm without a permit. The bill is set to be scheduled for a state House vote, and if it passes, Utah will join 15 other states that allow permitless carry, often referred to as constitutional carry.
