The United Arab Emirates and the United States, with support from the United Kingdom, Brazil, Denmark, Israel, Singapore, Australia and Uruguay, Saturday announced the Agriculture Innovation Mission for Climate (AIM for Climate) at President Biden’s Leaders Summit on Climate.

The initiative aims to increase and accelerate global agricultural innovation and research and development (R&D) over the next five years, to address climate change.

There will be checks to ensure the food is safe for consumption. The campaign provides an opportunity for both citizens and residents to actively partner in an initiative that upholds the UAE’s spirit of philanthropy while also supporting the National Food Security Strategy’s goal of reducing food wastage and redistributing surplus food, Sheikha Hind said.
As part of the campaign, the UAE Food Bank will also distribute ready meals and parcels.
Dubai Municipality will oversee the collection and storage of food across its fridges in different locations of the UAE. The meals will be distributed by IACAD officials, volunteers and a team from the UAE Food Bank.

DUBAI, 17th April, 2021 (WAM) Under the directives of H.H. Sheikha Hind bint Maktoum bin Juma Al Maktoum, wife of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai,, and Chairperson of the Board of Trustees of UAE Food Bank, the UAE Food Bank has launched a campaign to distribute 50,000 meals and food parcels to underprivileged individuals and families during Ramadan.
The campaign, which seeks to distribute surplus food to those in need, is being implemented in collaboration with Dubai Municipality, the Department of Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities Department in Dubai (IACAD) and a food app-based service called ‘Nefsy’, which provides individuals an opportunity to share meals with others in need upon ordering through the app.

The UAE’s aim to further enhance food security and attain number one ranking in the Global Food Security Index by 2051 were the key focus areas at a MEED webinar entitled ‘Agritech – Enhancing Food Security in the UAE’, organised by DP World, UAE Region and Jebel Ali Free Zone (Jafza).
UAE Minister of State for Food and Water Security Mariam bint Mohammed Almheiri (pictured right) delivered a keynote speech, emphasising that the efficiency of the food supply chain is a top priority for the UAE s leadership.
