Personnel of Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) of police in Karachi conducted the operation in the wee hours of Monday in the Shah Latif Town area during which the terrorists hurled a hand grenade on the armored vehicle of the CTD, Omer Shahid Hamid, deputy inspector general of CTD Sindh, told local media. As a result, an exchange of fire took place between terrorists and police, killing one militant on the spot, the official said, adding that another five were also taken into custody during the raid.

Terrorists caught in Karachi wanted to target Sindh Assembly: sources Pakistan Tue, Feb 09, 2021 KARACHI: The terrorists who were arrested from the city s Shah Latif town area Monday morning planned to target the Sindh Assembly, sources told Geo News.  The Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) said it had killed one terror suspect and arrested four others after an intense gunbattle.  Forensic data from a cellphone that belonged to one of the militants contained a video clip of the Sindh Assembly, which was filmed during a recce of the provincial assembly.  The source informed Geo News that the recce was done recently. Sources also told Geo News that authorities obtained forensic data from the mobile phone of one of the terrorists who was arrested by the CTD.

NACTA issues security alert

NACTA issues security alert The National Counter Terrorism Authority issued on Wednesday an alert, citing security threats in Karachi. According to the alert, terrorist elements have been planning to attack an official building in the city and a vehicle has been prepared to carry explosives for the purpose. Following the issuance of the alert, the Sindh Rangers director general chaired a meeting to review the law and order situation in the metropolis. The meeting reviewed in details the arrangements made for dealing with the potential security threat and formulated a joint strategy to employ technical resources for crime prevention. The meeting was attended by the Karachi commissioner, Karachi AIG and others.
