Egco keen on energy storage opportunity
published : 8 Jul 2021 at 04:07 The offshore Yunlin Wind Farm in Taiwan, acquired by Egco in 2019, is scheduled to begin operations in the third quarter this year.
SET-listed Electricity Generating Plc (Egco), a subsidiary of the state-run Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand, will venture into the energy storage system (ESS) business by partnering with a global company.
Egco, currently in talks with several firms in the battery industry, aims to become a key player in the ESS supply chain, which covers stationary batteries and batteries for electric vehicles (EVs), said Egco president Thepparat Theppitak.
He declined to name the firms, saying only that the talks are expected to be finalised within the second half of this year.
