(KOLD News 13) - Each year, National Crime Victims’ Rights Week (NCVRW) is observed by the Arizona Attorney General’s Office (AGO) to honor and reflect upon the important work that individuals, law enforcement, non-profits, and many other organizations across the country do to advocate for crime victims.  NCVRW is from April 18th - April 24th, and this year’s theme, Support Victims. Build Trust. Engage Communities., exemplifies how advocating for crime victims throughout their healing process is central to the mission of serving justice.

Caddo DA observes Crime Victims Rights, Sexual Assault Month

SHREVEPORT, La - National Crime Victims’ Rights Week is April 18–24, 2021, and the entire month is Sexual Assault Awareness Month. The theme for this year’s National Crime Victims’ Rights Week is Support Victims. Build Trust. Engage Communities. Each year, the Caddo Parish District Attorney’s office takes this opportunity to reflect on and fortify its commitment to victims of domestic violence and sexual assault. The DA s office prioritizes victim engagement in a number of ways: maintaining a Special Victims Unit; employing a team of Victim Assistant Coordinators and finally, forming alliances with community partners who serve and advocate for victims throughout the community. These community partners include the Gingerbread House, the Cara Center, the Family Justice Center, and Project Celebration.

The Pennsylvania Capitol Building will glow purple this week to recognize National Crime Victims Rights Week.  The lighting of the building was coordinated by Marsy s Law for Pennsylvania, a grassroots effort that is seeking to amend the state constitution to provide victims of crime that are already afforded to the accused and convicted, according to the group.

LAVA Community Support Walk At Ashley Pond April 24 COMMUNITY News: Ashley Pond Park, including the stage area, will be used for the Los Alamos Victim Assistant (LAVA) Community Support Walk 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, April 24. The community is invited to attend this event.   To follow social-distancing requirements, directional signage will be placed to allow one-way foot traffic around  the sidewalks in the park, and masks are required. Sign-in will occur at the stage area. Walkers can utilize parking at 20th Street and Trinity Drive, on the southeast side of the pond, as the Library Overflow Parking lot, the Justice Center North Parking lot will be closed for resurfacing. The southwest pond parking lot (Justice Center) will be closed for use 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. by the Drug Take Back drive-through event.
