Talk of Jim Brown s legacy returns as NFL draft comes to Cleveland

“He did tell me ‘Debra, I’m sorry, I don’t remember a lot of this.’ And I said, ‘Well, how convenient if he has Alzheimer’s or he has some type of football head injury. “I don’t believe that, though. Because I watched him. I followed him with the (2016) election with President Trump. (Brown) made great sense. So that was around the same time.’’ Of the arrests involving women, Brown was convicted only of vandalizing his wife s car in 1999 and he was sentenced to six months of jail after he refused to attend domestic violence victim counseling. Clark-Russell was one of four women who declined to cooperate with authorities, saying she did not want Brown to be prosecuted.

This is just one case in the larger problem of domestic violence throughout the country. Victims of domestic violence often struggle to find all the options available during a crisis to them to get out of the situation, but services like the YWCA are meant to help assist with that. Advocates with the Spokane YWCA say they have seen an increase in the number of calls into the domestic violence helpline. The pandemic is said to be one of the primary reasons for the increase. Experts say domestic violence thrives in isolation, and not being able to go anywhere effects the victim.
