Maryland Senate Minority Whip Michael J. Hough (R) announced Monday that he will forego a re-election bid and instead run for Frederick County executive in 2022.
“Voters in Frederick County will face a crucial choice in next year’s election. What kind of county do we want to be? Do we continue to be a unique and wonderful community where people are proud to live, work, and raise a family? Or do we become Montgomery County North, with overcrowding, traffic gridlock, crime and high taxes,” Hough asked in the campaign announcement.
California won t ease its mask rules until June 15
Fully vaccinated Californians will need to wear face coverings in most indoor settings for another month, as the state announced Monday it will wait until June 15 to adopt the latest guidance by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
Dr. Mark Ghaly, secretary of California Health and Human Services, said the state reviewed the CDC s guidelines and decided it was important to wait to implement them. As the CDC even said, implementation of this is important, Ghaly said. There’s different ways to implement, and giving California . some time to do it in a way that allows it to be done well without a level of confusion is where we are.

BOSTON By May 29, more than two months ahead of the schedule previously announced, Massachusetts intends to lift all remaining COVID-19 restrictions and the state of emergency that s been in place since March 10, 2020 will be lifted June 15, Gov. Charlie Baker said Monday morning.
“We said since Day 1 that we will get through this together because the people of Massachusetts are strong, kind and willing to sacrifice to help their neighbor. Today we know more than ever that that is the truth,” Baker said during a press conference at the Statehouse.
The state s requirement that people wear face coverings will go away May 29 and be replaced by an advisory consistent with the recent U.S. Centers for Disease Control guidance that vaccinated people no longer need to wear a mask in most settings.
