LaToya Dennis LaToya Dennis joined WUWM in October 2006 as a reporter / producer. LaToya began her career in public radio as a part-time reporter for WKAR AM/FM in East Lansing, Michigan. She worked as general assignment reporter for WKAR for one and a half years while working toward a master s degree in Journalism from Michigan State University. While at WKAR, she covered General Motors plant closings, city and state government, and education among other critical subjects. Before coming to public radio, LaToya interned at the CBS affiliate in Lansing, Michigan. She also took part in NPR s 2005 Next Generation Radio Project in Kansas City, Missouri as well as NPR s summer 2006 Next Generation Radio Project in Indianapolis, Indiana.

WACO, Texas (May 5, 2021) – Mia Moody-Ramirez, Ph.D., professor and chair of journalism, public relations and new media at Baylor University and a nationally recognized author and expert on race and culture, has been named the 2021 Cornelia Marschall Smith Professor of the Year. The Cornelia Marschall Smith Professor of the Year Award recognizes a Baylor faculty member who makes a superlative contribution to the learning environment at Baylor through: Teaching, which is judged to be of the highest order of intellectual acumen and pedagogical effectiveness. Research and creative activity, which is recognized as outstanding by the national and/or international as well as local community of scholars.

Pink Triangle Press announces Tre vell Anderson as the first ever recipient of the Ken Popert Media Fellowship

The Root s 100 most influential African Americans of 2020, Anderson is a co-host of the Fanti podcast, a contributor to the Los Angeles Times and regional director of the National Association of Black Journalists. Anderson, as editor-at-large for Xtra, will be fostering journalism by and for underrepresented LGBTQ2S+ communities, with a particular focus on emerging Black queer and trans writers. The Ken Popert Media Fellowship was established in 2021 by Pink Triangle Press in celebration of its 50th anniversary. The fellowship honours the legacy of former executive director Ken Popert, who retired in 2017. The fellowship provides resources and support for journalists to create and publish unique and powerful LGBTQ2S+ stories.
