Members of the Nigerian Association of Resident Doctors (NARD) have commenced an industrial action across the country.
The strike which was scheduled to begin on Thursday followed an ultimatum issued to the Federal Government which expired on Wednesday.
NARD President, Dr Uyilawa Okhuaihesuyi, announced the commencement of the nationwide strike during an interview on
Sunrise Daily – a breakfast programme on
Channels Television.
“The strike commenced 8am this morning, and we enjoin all resident doctors to start the strike immediately,” he said.
The National Association of Resident Doctors (NARD) says it has embarked on an indefinite strike Thursday morning.

The National Association of Resident Doctors, NARD, has embarked on a nationwide strike despite an appeal by the federal government.
Speaking during a morning program on a national television, the association’s president, Uyilawa Okhuaihesuyi, said the strike commenced at 8 am on Thursday.
“The strike commenced 8 am, and we enjoin all resident doctors to start the strike immediately.
“We had a meeting with the minister of labour from 4 pm to about 12 am this morning, but as it stands; we are used to memorandum of understandings for over a decade now, and we insist on the implementation of what we wrote on our strike message.

The Arewa Youths Consultative Forum, AYCF, on Thursday reacted to President Muhammadu Buhari’s failure to transmit power to his Vice, Yemi Osinbajo before embarking on his latest medical trip to London.
AYCF National President, Yerima Shettima said it would be abnormal for Buhari not to handover power to Osinbajo, if he would not return soon.
