Buffs Add Grad Transfer Mason Faulkner To 2021 Class

BOULDER – The University of Colorado men s basketball team has signed Mason Faulkner, a graduate transfer from Western Carolina, to play for the Buffaloes in 2021-22 head coach Tad Boyle announced on Friday. A 6-foot, 1-inch, 190-pound guard from Glasgow, Ky., Faulkner averaged 17.4 points, 5.8 rebounds, 5.5 assists and 1.2 steals in 53 games over two seasons with Western Carolina. He shot 42 percent from the field and 77 percent from the free throw line while averaging nearly 34 minutes per game. Faulkner adds experience and depth to a Colorado squad that features only two scholarship upperclassmen – seniors-to-be Evan Battey and Eli Parquet – and nine underclassmen at this moment for the 2021-22 campaign. Faulkner joins a 2021 signing class that already ranks No. 13 in the nation, and tops in the Pac-12, according to 247Sports.com.

College basketball coaching hires reflect needed change

Apr 15, 2021 The Derek Chauvin trial currently playing out in Minnesota serves as context for what got us here, to a place of small progress in college basketball. The sports world cannot fix serious societal issues, but it can react to them, and the death of George Floyd beneath the knee of a white cop, among other traumatic events in the spring of 2020, spawned a reckoning on U.S. college campuses. In one corner, at least, an embarrassment is being addressed. Black men’s basketball coaches are being hired at a significant rate. Athletes spoke up. Athletes marched. Athletes voted. College administrators and many others performed some self-examination. And upon reflection, the overwhelming whiteness of head coaches in college hoops was unjustifiable. Less than a year later a market correction of sorts has been underway.

Arizona Basketball Coaching Hot Board 2 0

Arizona Basketball Coaching Hot Board 2.0 Arizona has made the decision to part ways with head basketball coach Sean Miller and will now look to hire a new coach. The hiring comes at a unique time because of the IARP and the fact that nobody knows what the future will hold.  The Arizona administration will have to navigate the results of the IARP that are likely coming next summer, firing of Miller, and hiring of a new coach. The public eye will likely be on the hire because of how everything has gone down and Arizona will have to convince a new coach that the punishment will not take away from the ability to move forward and build a successful program.

John Feinstein: Indianapolis has a long history with the Final Four, but this chapter is one to forget

John Feinstein: Indianapolis has long history with Final Four, but this chapter is one to forget FREE NEWSLETTERS This is the 41st time I have attended the Final Four. I have never seen anything like this version. And I hope never to see anything like it again. It isn’t just sitting in 70,000-seat Lucas Oil Stadium with fans filling the place at about 10% capacity. It isn’t sitting in a football press box several miles from the court. It isn’t even feeling grateful for a bottle of water and a national anthem performed in less than three minutes.
