They worked tirelessly at the expense of their own families and health.

Looking back most of us will remember this year as an endless watershed moment. Most could not have predicted how our year evolved. It has been a year of contemplation for me and others in my cohort. I have had time to think about what was important to me, what I really cared about as well as what I feared.
National Nurses Week is May 6-12, and we are inviting readers to help us recognize the dedicated nurses in our county.
Send us a letter about a special caregiver in your life or family, and we will include it in the May 12 edition. Photos are welcome as well. Please identify each person in the photo by first and last name.

Nuclear Care Partners, which provides services to former atomic workers who have developed serious illnesses due to workplace exposure to radiation or toxic chemicals, is marking National Nurses Week by recognizing local âHealthcare Heroes.â
Each week in May, the organization will select a worker nominated by the Tri-Valley community to be recognized on social media for their âincredible determination and kind hearts for service.â
