LULU GARCIA-NAVARRO, HOST: Do you listen to Girl in Red? That s a question that means more than you think. It became a coded way for young women on social media to ask each other if they re queer. But Girl in Red is a real musician, also known as 22-year-old Marie Ulven. And her debut album is finally out, called If I Could Make It Go Quiet. She joined me from Norway for a conversation this past week. And we spoke about her music and her openness about her sexuality and mental health. We should note that some parts of this conversation addressed thoughts about self-harm.

Trinity Services, Inc. s Living Room is an innovative new program in Orland Park that gives people in crisis a safe, welcoming environment to deescalate from mental health or daily life stressors.
The program is planning a free Virtual Open House event for noon Tuesday, May 18, during which attendees can take a virtual tour of the space, hear from Living Room staff members and ask questions about the program.

Itâs a crisp October afternoon, the kind of autumnal day I typically love. But Iâm sitting in my doctorâs office, after a week of inexplicable, excruciating mouth pain. It feels like Iâve scorched my tongue on a hot drink, but I havenât. My doctor ultimately diagnoses me with thrush.
This feels wrong to me. Iâve seen a lot of thrush, having worked with infants for years. My mouth looks completely normal. Still, I fill the antifungal he prescribes, and take it. The pain is endless. The medication isnât helping. So I go into research mode.
