The National Leader of the All Progressives Congress, Bola Tinubu and other leaders of the party in South-West have visited the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), over the death of Nigeria’s Chief of Army Staff, Attahiru Ibrahim, and other military officers in a plane crash.
The Presidency made this known in a tweet on Monday.
Among others that visited are Chief Bisi Akande and Chief Segun Osoba, Gen. Alani Akinrinade, and Chief Pius Akinyelure.
Earlier, the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), said the deaths of Attahiru and 10 other military officers have increased Nigeria’s security challenge.
He regretted that the bad incident happened at a time the country is battling security challenges.

After a four-hour closed-door meeting with the National Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Bola Tinubu, Speaker of House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila and other party leaders in South-West, the South-West APC governors expressed concern about the security situation in the nation.
Addressing the media, the convener of the meeting, former interim APC National Chairman, Chief Bisi Akande said that the governors and leaders had open and frank discussions about the difficulties in the country and condemned strongly separatist agitations and hate speeches while urging those indulging in such to desist forthwith.

When Lieutenant General Ibrahim Attahiru, was appointed as the 25th Chief of Army Staff (COAS), one of his key derivatives was his drive to quell insurgency in the North-east. His drive was understandable, especially for a region that reportedly gave him trouble when he was Theatre Commander of Operation Lafiya Dole until 2017 when he was removed by the then COAS, Lieutenant General Tukur Buratai.

The umbrella body for Yoruba self-determination groups, Ilana Omo Oodua, has criticised the National Leader of the All Progressives Congress, Bola Tinubu, and other APC leaders in the South-West leaders for opposing “separatist agitations”.
SaharaReporters had reported that Tinubu and some other APC leaders in the South-West, including the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila had opposed agitations for Yoruba Nation at a meeting on Sunday.
